Suddenly have time to read? Here's what we're into lately

Do you all of the sudden have time to read? Weird, us too. Maybe it was your new year’s resolution to read more, again (be careful what you wish for!), or maybe you’re looking for something to take your mind off reality for a few hours a day. Either way, we have lots of books we’re loving lately. Here’s what the ABLE team is digging into these days.

Design books: System Magazine, The World of Apartamento, David Hockney.

One of our Jewelry Designers (and everyone’s daily office style inspo), Annalise, has been using her time at home to curl up with books on her favorite designs and designers. “They're always so pretty and inspiring, but I rarely take the time to read through interviews and articles. Now is the time for that, and I'm loving learning more and getting a deeper understanding for the things, architects, and designers I already love visually!”

Educated, by Tara Westover

Our Copywriter, Sawyer, typically reads at a snail’s pace but has found herself racing through this one. “I know it’s one of those books you’ve seen every single one of the people you follow on insta post about, but trust me, it’s worth it. It’s particularly cathartic to me at the moment, because getting lost in someone else’s extremely challenging reality helps give me valuable perspective on my own.”

The Defined Dish Cookbook, by Alex Snodgrass

Jordan, our Fashion Director, is using #socialdistancing to swap nights dining out for evenings trying new recipes. “I love using this time to really lean into something I already love doing, but often have to skip because of a packed schedule. This cookbook is full of healthy recipes that are still full of flavor and lots of fun to cook.”

Beautiful– All American Decorating and Timeless Style, by Mark D. Sikes

Our Wholesale Sales Director, Mallory, has used her time at home to really connect with the space she’s in. “Home and design books are a fun way to get inspired and ‘feng shui’ your apartment without buying anything.”

Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett

Elissa, our Social Media Manager, has been spending her mornings reading this novel. “I love reading during times like this, because it allows me to get lost in a story and take my minds off things at hand for a little while.”

Talking to Strangers, by Malcom Gladwell

Anna, our Senior Accountant, is just starting to read this one (apparently it has a great audiobook too if that’s more your style!). “Reading during things like a quarantine or social distancing is important to me, because it allows me to continue engaging with other people’s viewpoints that I am missing out on in my daily interactions.”
