Meet Whitney: Design Director Behind the Spring Apparel Collection

Over the last year, we’ve hit refresh on our apparel offering– joining forces with our new designer to give you better than ever styles, fabrics, and fits. This collection has pieces designed to have a place in every area of your life– made with trustworthy fabrics, relevant details, and silhouettes that can follow you from casual meetups to sophisticated affairs. We sat down with our Apparel Design Director, Whitney to talk all about her process behind the collection.

When designing this collection where did you begin?

My starting point when designing a collection is always fabric-to me it’s the most important aspect and can ‘make or break’ a design. Texture was key when selecting fabrications for the season, which you will see in our textured gauze, eyelet, and crinkle chiffon. I wanted to ensure that every item felt special-even our Anamika Relaxed Tee which is in a lyocell linen blend, creating the perfect summer tee! (and yes, its machine washable!).  Every detail was carefully thought out to create a cohesive capsule wardrobe that is both on trend and effortless.

How many pieces have you worked on to build this collection?

For our spring/summer collection, we designed roughly 25 new styles. We’ve really focused on designing pieces that are timeless, comfortable, and easy while also nodding to current trends.

What item are you currently loving?

Right now I am loving the Jasmine Bell Sleeve Blouse. The sheer sleeves have such a feminine detail. I’ve been styling it under my Maha Leather Jacket and sneakers or tucked into my white cropped wide leg denim. The Sweta Dolman Tee has also quickly become one of my favorite closet staples. The slightly oversized silhouette is really flattering and effortless.

Tell us a little bit more about the fabrics that we can find throughout the collection.

We’ve been working hard to pick fabrics that are both beautiful and functional. It is important that each material is made to fit your lifestyle and last for years. My favorite fabrics right now are the double gauze in our Rupa blouse and the Lyocell/Linen in our Priya Muscle Tank- both are so easy, comfortable, and breathable. I am also really excited about our eyelet fabric that we will be introducing soon. Stay tuned!

Where were these pieces produced?

We have been working with three amazing partners– two in New Delhi, India and one in LA. We're excited to work with incredible artisans across the globe.
