Meet Kayla - our #IAmAbleTo Winner

Earlier this year we hosted the #iamABLEto contest, where we asked you to tell us about women who have inspired you and made you ABLE to be the person you are. We were overwhelmed by your stories of both overcoming hardships and finding joyful celebrations.
Now we want you to meet our winner, Kayla. Nominated by her best friend, Lydia, it's easy to see how her life and love has affected so many around her. We hope her story inspires you the way it inspired us.
You can read Kayla's story, as well as some of our other top nominations, here.

Kayla (L) and Lydia (R)

The ABLE team welcomed Kayla and Lydia to Nashville for a weekend away to be pampered, so they could press pause on their busy lives. The girls started off at our HQ, so we could welcome them to the city (and so they could then go on a little shopping spree in the Flagship!)

We loved getting to finally meet Kayla in-person after having read her story so many months ago.

(ABLE look head to toe!)

From ABLE, they headed next door for lunch with our neighbors at Frothy Monkey, followed by some more shopping with another neighbor and fellow social enterprise, Project 615. From there, the girls settled into their beautiful suite at the Kimpton Aerston Hotel, right in the heart of Midtown.

Since Nashville is known for its incredible food scene, we wanted to make sure that they tried a new favorite, and had a dinner reservation at Nada for them that evening.

The next morning, the girls explored a couple of our favorite neighborhoods– Germantown and East Nashville. They had a full day of pampering planned, so after breakfast at Crema, they got started with makeup at Poppy & Monroe, grabbed some lunch at Butcher & Bee and continued the pampering with blowouts at Local Honey. After some downtime, they headed back out to explore 12 South and have dinner at Edley's BBQ. After a full weekend of good food and fun, the girls stopped for one last brunch at Milk & Honey before heading back home.

We were so thrilled to be a part of Kayla's story and hope that she and Lydia felt empowered and loved during their weekend away. We believe stories like Kayla's (and so many more!) deserve to be celebrated. Here at ABLE, we are always inspired by hearing how you have overcome hardships in your life and who has made you able to do so.

A special thank you to all the partners who made this possible, including those mentioned above, as well as Lyft, Bongo Java, Paddywax, nashᵀᴺ, WithCo, Shealeen Louise, and Thistle Farms.
