How to Care for your Candle

How to Care for your Candle

This holiday, we are excited to break the mold of our typical product categories and offer a selection of home goods! We are working with several small like-minded brands to create products that make your house feel like home.

One of the products we are most excited about is the You Are Able Candle. These candles are hand-poured by the women at Thistle Farms. Like ABLE, Thistle Farms believes that incredible things happen when women are empowered, and they work to give opportunity and experience to women who have come from difficult circumstances. (PS, you can shop the ABLE x Thistle Farms Gift Set Collaboration here).

The rest of the production was done in collaboration with our friends at Ranger Station– a wonderful Nashville business who is in the habit of partnering with brands that protect and empower women.

They passed along their favorite tips and tricks to care for your candle and keep it burning for as long as possible.

The first burn is the most important. Make sure the melt pool reaches all sides of the candle before extinguishing– otherwise tunneling can occur.

Try to make a habit of letting the melt pool always reach the sides of the candle to ensure that you capture the candle's whole potential.

Always trim your wicks to 1/4" before every burn so that the candle does not burn faster than it should.

Did you know that these candles can be repurposed into drinking glasses once you've burned through them? Here's what you need to do: place the candle in freezer overnight, run hot tap water over wax to loosen then remove with wooden utensil, remove wick tabs from base of glass, clean glass. Then you are ready to use your new drinking glass!
