Around here, we like to take any chance we can to lift up and support women. You should totally celebrate the women in your life every day, but we love that there's a whole holiday dedicated to celebrating strong mamas we look up to! That's why we chatted with a few ABLE mamas to glean some wisdom from their time with their kiddos.

Rachel, Founder Barrett's Wife

What does motherhood mean to you?

“To me motherhood takes everything I’ve got. It gets my best and my worst. I treasure this role; I treasure my girls. It’s the biggest job and responsibility in the world to raise them to be kind, generous, thoughtful, honest human beings.”

Phyllis, Jeweler

What is the biggest lesson you have learned from motherhood?

"I’ve learned from motherhood is to become a great listener. Motherhood is my world– it has meant everything to me, it has been a wonderful gift. My favorite part of motherhood has been being able to love my children unconditionally."

Whitney, Apparel Designer

What does motherhood mean to you?

"It’s both the greatest responsibility and the greatest gift I have ever been given. It means showing my daughter how to be strong and how to accept herself -but always striving to be better. It means showing her how to navigate through life while showing an immeasurable amount of love and grace. I have come to understand what true unconditional love means and how to both give and receive it myself.

It means making her know that I am in her corner always, to lift her up and to be there when she falls. I take special heart in this due to a lack of a relationship with my own mother-I will try until the day I die, try to the be the role model and Mom I didn’t have. My hope is that my children never go a day not knowing their value and that they are loved beyond measure-If I can do that, then I have done my job."
